Mariachi Jump Start is a summer program for incoming 6th through 9th grade students that are interested in either starting to learn or improving their skills on the violin, trumpet, guitar, or guitarrón in the mariachi style.
What is Mariachi Jump Start?
Music educators from Mariachi Aguilas will teach instrumental workshops during the week long program. At the end of the week, there will be a public concert to showcase what the students have learned in the workshops.
How does it work?
The workshops will be held Monday, June 11th through Friday, June 15th, 2018 from 8am to 12pm in the music building at Centennial High School. The final concert will be held on Friday, June 15th at 6pm in the Corbett Center Student Union Outdoor Stage at New Mexico State University.
When and where will this take place?
The total cost of the Jump Start summer program is $50 per student, due at the time you register. This amount includes 20 hours of instruction throughout the week, a folder with sheet music for the workshops, a participant T-Shirt, and a light snack for each day of the program.
How much will it cost?
If you own a violin, trumpet, guitar or a guitarrón, please bring it! If you don't own one, we will have a limited quantity available on a "first come, first served" basis. This means that the sooner you register, the better chance you will have to reserve and use one of these instruments.
